Thanks for the nice memorial, Patrick... Rodney drove me nuts sometimes when we worked together, but I also had much respect for him, much for that very reason.

What a lovely tribute to a friend - I'm sorry for your loss (some holes never go away). Keep him in your heart and share him with The Duchess. He sounds like someone she'd love to know.

6 years? I didn't realize how much time has past.

I new Rodney only briefly. But even at a remove, I could tell he was one of the good guys.

A while back I ran across his name in my address book - and discovered he wasn't the only one to pass. I still refuse to call myself "middle aged", but getting older, dammit.

Rodney was cool and I'm glad I had the fortune to have known him.

I arrived bright and early for my first day of work at Power On Software back in March 2000, and of course, no one else in Q.A. was even around that early. So, Rodney was the first one to come over. He shook my hand and said, "So! You're the new guy?" And we both laughed, and he made me feel right at home. It was really the perfect way to be welcomed to my new workplace.

Not too long after that, he had sent me a question via email - it took me a long time to reply, and I apologized for the delay in getting back to him. He e-mailed me back to ask me if I was on C.P.T. (I believe he said something to the effect of "Girl, you on CPT?!") and I had no idea what that meant. So he told me that it meant "caucasian people's time" and also told me to ask Patrick if C.P.T. meant "caucasian people's time", which of course I did, which sent guffaws of laughter from one side of the office (where Patrick was) to the other (where Rodney was).

Those were the days.
